A Letter From the Superintendent - November '23
Dr. Jennifer Garrison
“Thank you for being an integral part of this journey and for your support of this community.”
As we move further into the school year and the crispness of Fall becomes more pronounced, I’m pleased to share our latest issue of Vandalia ONE. As I think you know by now, this is not just a publication to me, but a reflection of our shared journey in education and community.
In this issue, you’ll find the stories of nine of our students — each one an embodiment of dedication, ambition, and the spirit of Vandalia. Their accomplishments, challenges faced, and the dreams they pursue are more than just individual tales; they’re a testament to the strength and potential of our entire student body.
Dive into the narrative of a VCHS alumna-turned-educator, who after her formative years with us, now spearheads a pivotal program at OKAW Area Vocational Center. Her trajectory underscores the possibilities that arise from a solid educational foundation.
Additionally, it is with tremendous pride that we highlight one of our own graduates who’s taken on the crucial role of our first School Resource Officer. His commitment to safety and student well-being, and the trust he’s cultivated within our halls, reflects the profound impact of community-rooted initiatives.
These stories, and others, serve a dual purpose. Firstly, to showcase the achievements and challenges overcome here in our Vandalia Schools community. And secondly, to bridge the gap between the classroom and the wider world, demonstrating that our teachings don’t just end at the doors to our schools but echo throughout our students’ lives.
Thank you for being an integral part of this journey and for your support of this community. As the leaves turn and we prepare for the various events and milestones the school year brings, let’s remain united, informed, and #vandalstrong.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Jennifer Garrison, Superintendent, Vandalia Schools
